Optimization Search Engines
No matter what kind of website you run, it's important to make sure it's optimized for search engines. Without search engine optimization, your site may struggle to find an audience. Thankfully, we've compiled a list of tips that will help you get your site ready for search engines and increase your search engine traffic.

Holding a contest, giveaway, or sweepstakes is a great way to attract visitors to your website, but make sure you find out about the applicable laws in your area. Checking out a competitor's website to see how they run their contest is a great place to start your research, but don't just copy their rules verbatim!

Use appropriate keyword density in all your content. If you are overdoing keywords, search engines pick that up as keyword filling, and they will often reject the site from the SERP (Search Engine Report Page). You want to moderate use so you are providing quality content that has the right amount of keywords to be found in a relevant search.

How do you know what the best keywords are to draw search engines? You do not have to guess. You can find popular subjects of searches by using free tools on the internet. Choose some keywords and these sites will tell you how many searches are done for them.

Avoid adding too much SEO content to a site that is already ranking well and pulling in site visitors. You can actually hurt a well ranked site by adding material that you haven't really carefully thought through. If not done carefully, the major engines may even classify your site as spam. If your site is doing well, just keep up the status quo and keep the additions to a minimum.

Be sure that you write your META description that is unique to each page with targeted keywords. Be careful not to stuff the keywords into the description. It should be a very well written summary of each page written for the site visitor and not for the robot looking for the site.

Do not use Flash on a website that you want to search engine optimize. Flash can take a long time to load and can not currently be read by search engine spiders, therefore any text included in a Flash file will not be indexed. To search engine optimize a website, your content needs to be visible and crawlable by search engines.

Create various gateway pages that are relevant to your site and business. When searches are conducted, you want everything in your site to be detected by the search engine bots. With gateway pages, you will find that you are getting great traffic on a variety of levels from various searches of different types, even searches for similar products or companies.

Create internal links over which you have control by making several small URLs with relevant content to improve SEO. Offsite links are always better for improving your search rankings. When you create small URLs where you control the content, you can ensure that the content has the right keywords to drive additional traffic to your site.
